64 AUTO FERRY FOLLOW-ONS AND OTHER POTENTIAL NEW FERRIES

It is anticipated that the state will award a contract for the construction of additional 64-auto ferries to a Washington shipbuilder in late 2009. The state legislature has approved funding for construction of a second and third 64-auto ferry with an option for a fourth.

Todd is also under contract to WSF for the design and construction of new 144-auto ferries. The functional design for this new class of vessel is complete and has been submitted to WSF.

FERRY CONSTRUCTION AT TODD – CONTINUING A PROUD TRADITION

Todd craftsmen are proud to have built a number of Washington State Ferries throughout the years. They include the Jumbo ferries, Spokane and Walla Walla, that entered service in 1972. More recently, Todd constructed three Jumbo Mark II Ferries: the Wenatchee, Tacoma, and Puyullap. These three ships, built at Todd from 1996 to 2001, are the longest double ended auto-passenger ferries in the country at 460’ in length, and carry 218 autos and up to 5,000 passengers.
